Papers of Norman A. Johnson, an officer with the Military History Detachment of the 32nd "Red Arrow" Brigade during the Persian Gulf War. The collection consists mostly of the personal service records of Johnson including discharge papers, awards, certificates, orders, evaluation reports, and retirement documents. These do a good job of documenting the career of a National Guardsman. Also included are ephemeral items that Johnson obtained while serving in the Middle East during the Persian Gulf War in 1991. There are propaganda leaflets aimed at the Iraqi forces as well as the U.N. forces and literature presumably given to American soldiers to educate them on Islamic culture and religion.
